Acerca de mí: Arzu Aliyeva discusses ways to make women of color more visible in the film and TV industry  Arzu Aliyeva focuses on the consequences of stereotypes on women of color in the movie industry.

Television and films are at the in the center of entertainment and address social issues.

Film producer Arzu Aliyeva points out how they don't accurately reflect what the society of today looks like.

You can only understand the pain of women of color as well as minority groups through documentaries.

Films that depict minority groups are often stereotyped.

In the background, people buy into the notion. It alters their thoughts as well as their feelings and actions towards women of color.

The connections between Women Stereotypes, and women of Color
Arzu starts off by discussing Arzu's image of men.

On the other hand, women need to prove themselves capable and confident enough  to be able to lead .

However, both women groups face different challenges in films, says acclaimed filmmaker Arzu Alieyva.

Women of color are simple to get along with. She is compassionate and kind. However, she has to keep a healthy balance in order not to be perceived as ineffective or weak.

Black women are viewed as assertive and angry.

Many assume that she has an attitude. People think she has an attitude. Therefore, she must not be weak, compliant or dependent.

Black women may also be at risk of racial discrimination.

They are often treated unjustly in the process of attending training and getting promotions. In the end, they are not able to reach the top of their profession.

It could become a challenging situation.

Lizzie Damilola Blackburn captured this prejudice in her book Where's Your Huzband!

McKinsey worked with LeanIn.Org to study the representation of women in The Women in the Workplace.

The study looked at all genders, which included women of color as well as women with disabilities.

According to the authors they found that women are becoming stronger leaders and are assisting their teams. They are also doubling their inclusion efforts. Women of white tend to be less likely to be advocates for women of color, compared to their allies.

In order to get to the entertainment sector, the survey of the ceiling has revealed that the number of female film producers has decreased since 2021.

Another report explained how TV programs created by women included more women editors, writers, and directors.

Therefore, it is crucial that more women get engaged in the business to ensure that women are represented.

The male dominating Film Industry is closed off to different perspectives, says Arzu Aliyeva
The film industry is a sector where men are more working in creative positions such as directors, writers and editors.

Lauzen's 2017 Celluloid Ceiling Report analyzed gender-based representation within the top 250 domestic grossing films.

Only 18% of all creatives (editors and cinematographers, writers and executive producers, directors, producers and directors) were female according to the report.

This number is the same as in 1998 (17 17 percent).

The government has come up with various strategies to combat gender inequality at work. Film industry: Women and racial marginalities are faring no better.

Arzu Aliyeva has stated that the film industry is recruiting on the basis of social networks. While social capital can be beneficial, it can be a barrier to some individuals from being employed in the field.

And women suffer more from this informal practice.

Research has shown that films whose producers are male tend to include more than 70% males in their team of creatives. The same goes for female producers, who will typically have 60% males in their creative teams. Whatever angle you take it is the same for men. the ones in charge of crucial creative positions.

Arzu Alyeva describes harmful consequences of stereotypes in the industry of Film and TV.
The Merriam Webster dictionary describes a stereotype as a common mental image that a group of people has with the other group. It's a simplified perception, a prejudgment, or an opinion that is not questioned.

Stereotypes can create false perceptions of a community or group.

In the TV and film industry, women don't have the same opportunities as men.

If they do get a role, they are less likely be depicted as independent and strong-willed.

James Bond's movies have female characters who are both victims and damsels, or the needy.

The majority of women don't show their true self.

This falsehood could be the result of the absence of female film makers, especially women of color who can convey the true stories of women.

There's also the issue of that censorship is a problem when it comes to exposing "taboo” topics such as sexuality/rape/harassment.

Since they are taboo topics in traditional cultures, women tend to shut down certain topics. Only a few platforms like Netflix allow women to talk about taboo subjects.

Stereotype can cause many problems.

It could lead to lower self-esteem, ineffective judgment, and may even lead to mental health issues. It can even lead to self-stereotyping where an individual starts acting in a particular way to have an identity.

Arzu Aliyeva believes that diversity is important.

The Call for Greater on-Screen Diversity
In February 2020, the University of California Los Angeles College of Social Sciences (UCLA) published a report called Holywood Diversity. The report focused on the relationships between the diversity of Hollywood as well as the base.

It analyzed the top-ranked films worldwide in box-offices between 2018 and 2018. It measured the amount of participation of women and people of colour in front and behind cameras.

It was encouraging to hear that women had made major advancements in the film industry.

However, they are still not represented in key positions such as directors of studios, film directors, lead actors, and writers for films.

It's a big issue when women, especially women of color, are left out of the television show.

Sharing her experiences on Quora, Brianna Richardson was the only black child in a class that was populated by white students. She wishes she were white, because she felt that the media didn't depict women of color accurately.

Genna states, "If she doesn't perceive it, she can’t be that."

This is why it is crucial to get more females on our screens. If we don't, how will girls in the midst of their teens be inspired to become the best irrespective of their race or colour?

In both film and television it is crucial for women to be encouraged to take on leadership roles and explore STEM careers.

In addition, representations should be inclusive.

Women of white should be given equal opportunities, but women of color must also receive the same opportunities.

Arzu Aliyva claims that the truth can change once the image has been altered.
Since time immemorial women have always struggled to get what they want. This is especially true when the woman is black.

After years of protests and demonstrations American women were granted the right to vote in 1920.

Yet, certain laws in the state make it difficult for black women to be considered.

Women of color are expected to work twice as hard for the same positions at work which white women will be able to obtain. They also must deal with the effects of gender bias and microaggressions.

Minda Harts, the author of What Women of Color Need to Know to Earn a Seat at the Table ,shared her friend's story.

The friend was employed for a company for around six (6) years, but her boss didn't even know her name. Contrary to colleagues who were white who were white, she was made to wear a name badge.

To not be overlooked, women and women from different backgrounds should have a seat at every table.

A greater diversity of film and television could lead to more representation.

Society is more welcoming to women of race and other minorities if it follows the saying "Seeing is believing".
